§ 2.60.030. Qualifications.

The fire chief need not reside within the city limits; however, the fire chief must establish residence in such a location that they can physically respond to city emergency calls within twenty (20) minutes from the residence. The fire chief shall be appointed by the mayor, solely on the basis of their education, experience and ability with special reference to their education, and actual experience in fire prevention and general administration of the fire department.
